STEP 1. MAKE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of all Background Pink and Sea Glass 4” squares and Porcelain 7” squares . Place (1) 4” square of pink background fabric right sides together with a 4” square of Teal or Green Print square. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Trim apart on line and press. Trim to 3.5” square.
Repeat process to make a total of:
* 4 Background Pink + Green or Teal at 3½” square
* 4 Background Sea glass + Pink or Orange at 3½” square
* 2 Porcelain + Large Print at 6½” square
STEP 2. MAKE 2-PATCHES
Sew 2-patch units by joining:
* 2” x 6.5” Pink Background + Teal or Green Prints; make 2 units
* 2” x 6.5” Sea Glass Background + Pink or Orange prints; make 2 units
* 2” x 3.5” Sea Glass Background+ 2” x 3.5” Pink or Orange prints; make 2 units
STEP 3. MAKE 3-PATCHES
Join 2” x 5” Pink Background + 2” Pink or Orange Prints. Note the position of the Pink or Orange square on opposite sides of the each unit. Sew a 6.5” Teal or Green Print along the top of the units just sewn.
STEP 4. ASSEMBLE THE BLOCK
Join block units as shown. Trim block to 18½” unfinished size.
Make a total of 9 blocks that measure 18.5” unfinished.
CUT THE BORDER PIECES
For the first border, from light background fabric cut:
- [2] 3.5” x 60.5” Strips (piece together as needed)
- [2] 3.5” x 54.5’ strips (piece together as needed)
For the final boarder, from the low volume prints and various prints in the FQB
- [22] 6.5” squares of low volume prints
- [22] 6.5” squares of various colorful prints from the FQB
ASSEMBLE THE QUILT TOP
Sew together three rows of three 18.5” blocks, so that you essentially have a giant 9 patch which measures 54.5” square.
Sew a 3.5”x54.5’” strip to the left and right of the giant 9 patch.
Sew a 3.5” x 60.5” strip to the top of bottom of the giant 9 patch.
Sew together a strip of [10] 6.5” squares alternating low volume and print for a 6.5” x 60.5” strip. Repeat to form a second strip. Sew a strip on the left and right side of the quilt top. Sew together a strip of [12] 6.5” squares alternating low volume and print for a 6.5” x 60.5” strip. Repeat to form a second strip. Sew a strip on the top and bottom of the quilt top.
The quilt top should measure 72.5” square.
