Materials Needed:

You will need the following to complete this project:

  • 1 Layer Cake for Blocks
  • 5/8 yard Background
  • 1/3 yard Binding
  • 5/8 yard Backing
  • Sweet Sentiments Table Runner Pattern # BNB2301

Paper and PDF patterns are available in our shop at Sew Lux Fabric or ask your local quilt shop to carry the paper pattern and kit one up for you!

The original version of this project was made with an assortment of pink and red prints. For this remix, we're showing you how it looks in a cohesive collection, Superbloom by Robin Pickens, which has just arrived in shops! Check out the other mock ups I have to share at the end of this post, too. You can make the blocks extra scrapy too depending on your preference.

This project uses a two different blocks. Both blocks start with a square in the center and you'll build on two adjacent sides to make the blocks.

Once you have all the components, you;ll add some snowball corners with a stitch & flip method.

And then you'll be ready to sash blocks together with their 4-patch cornerstones.

I chose to make one set of blocks mostly pink and another mostly purple. But you can mix colors up for a different look as well.

I quilted this one with straight lines using my walking foot and followed some of the seams as a guide.

You can see in this photo of the original next to this Superbloom version how I made the blocks a little more scrappy in the original (on the right).

I really love how this one turned out and always love the chance to use a subtle print like this Dotty Thatched in the background of my projects.

I have included a couple of mock ups in other new collections arriving to shops this month: Summertime by Camille Roskelley and Abloom by Corey Yoder. Which one is your favorite?

If your local shop is carrying one of these collections, ask them to kit one up for you or help you select prints from another collection that catches your eye!

Next month, we will be making the Pumpkin Harvest Pattern. I will meet you back here on May 15th!
