2021 - A Review
2021 - A Review
A lot can happen in a year.
These mini charm packs represent one of the "new releases" of this past year - the collections in the October 2021 catalog.
It's been written that the only time you should look back is to see how far you've come. In this case, it's how much has been created, shared, and hopefully, enjoyed.
We started our year with the My Favorite Color is Moda Sampler quilt.
Designed by Moda's Michelle White, this sampler was available in six Bella Solid color palettes, also selected by Michelle.
There is one last wrap-up post coming in January, but the blocks are now complete. A few folks finished early, and might have made more than one. (We do like over-achievers!)

We saw Shelancia Daniel, the Creativity Shell, and the Love Bug program take off, and there is a fabric collection coming in 2022 - Creativity Glows.

We added UnBoxed to the line-up - Moda Designers shared their inspiration and projects for their new, on-the-way-to-shops collections.
Kathy Schmitz' Maryland was one of the featured collections.
While there were so many good patterns and books in 2021, we used Susan Ache's outstanding Sampler Spree book for an incredibly popular quilt-along.
There was a terrific Moda Bake Shop Summer in the Garden quilt-along.

We made these charm pack wreaths, pillowcases, fabric buckets, banners, pillows and I can't remember what else.
And then it was September, and time for National Sew A Jelly Roll Day.
This is Taffy, one of the five new Project Jelly Roll Quilts for 2021.

The five quilt patterns for 2021 are - Taffy, Tiddlywinks, Step This Way, Quadrangle and Savannah Squares. They can be found on the Free Patterns page.
Then it was October and Stitch Pink.
Together by Sherri McConnell, using Sherri & Chelsi's Valentine collection, Sincerely Yours.
By October, we were celebrating the arrival of Jen Kingwell's gorgeous book, Quilt Recipes.
We interviewed Jen about making quilts, her shop, why she included dessert recipes in her book, fabric, and anything else I could think of.
This book will continue into next year with a long, relaxed quilt-along that starts this Friday, and goes over the New Year's weekend. It's like a "sit and stitch", getting together with others to visit, share ideas, and stitch something from Quilt Recipes. What is better than that?
And don't worry if you're still waiting on a book, this is a go-at-your-own-pace quilt-along. Seriously - Jen is hand-piecing her quilts, so this isn't going to be over in a week.
Finally, as they've done before, the Moda Bake Shop ended the year with another terrific Countdown to Christmas.

There are still a couple more posts coming, including at least one setting option for the blocks.
Did you sew-along with any of these? Do you have a favorite project for 2021?
We're already filling up our 2022 calendar with things to make and share.
Until then, we hope you have a very safe, Happy New Year.
We'll see you in January.
